During the meeting, President of the Dentists Union, Dr. Wasfi Al Rashdan on behalf of the Union expressed that with the MOH he aspires for a steady and meaningful flow towards the appropriate and scheduled spending of funds which should be budgeted properly to include work improvements and stability.
Dr. Al Rashdan further added that the MOH is cooperatively working with the Union to improve its guidelines and regulatory procedures in addition to providing the availability of proper tools for the best implementation possible.
He also acknowledged the MOH's keenness towards working and coordinating together with the Union through regular medical training and the fair availability of opportunities for all members, in addition to the availability of tools to spread research findings and courses on the MOH's website that ease and simplify procedures.
Dr. Al Rashdan also presented the requests of the Union in response to the inequalities of the technical and administrative system between doctors and dentists addressing the imbalances towards the dental profession. He pointed out imbalances such as the tight control on dental materials as well as the practice of dentists without local licences. Other examples included the advertising and marketing of some clinics and other violations of laws.
Dr. Al Rashdan added that the Union has started allocating points for Continuing Medical Education and has selected a specialized council for grading and accreditation related to scientific activities. He asked that the MOH take into consideration to relate this accreditation and grading process with the renewal of dental practices.
