April 7, 2008, marked the official launch of Wave 4 of the Hayatee Ahla National Family Planning Campaign which was under the Patronage of the HE Prime Minister Eng. Nader Al Thahabee. 

 

At the Meridian Hotel, Amman, guests arrived to enjoy a cocktail reception of drinks and mingle in the reception area.  And when it was time, they were lead to their seats into the ballroom which was elegantly set for the anticipated seated gala dinner. With a large backdrop presenting a main campaign visual, the master of Ceremonies, Eng. Wisam Qarqash, Senior Education & Curriculum Development Specialist-JHCP, welcomed and greeted the guests

 

Soon after, Dr. Soliman Farah, Chief of Party-JHCP too to the stage, stating, “I am privileged and honored  to stand with you today in this celebration of the launch of this national family planning campaign, under the slogan, Hayatee Ahla…”.

 

He expressed that this particular wave stands out since it comes in collaboration with several entities from different sectors, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Fine Hygenic Paper Company/Nuqul Group and Umniah Telecommunications Company, to name a handful.

Dr. Farah also brought to their attention that the wave is targeted to pass its messages to newlyweds and married couples with one child.

 

Special guest, Zain, the cute and energetic leading child in the television spots accompanied Dr. Farah during a part of his speech.

 

Attendees were then invited to enjoy the “Making Of” compilation video of behind the scenes footage and the first public viewing of the campaign television spots on screens in the ball room

During the speeches from the Private Sector, Mr. Joseph Hananieh, Chief Executive Officer of Umniah Telecommunications company that the company understands the importance of this campaign in spreading health awareness in Jordan. Mr. Hananieh also mentioned that Umniah was supporting the campaign through sending SMS health messages to its subscribers free of charge, 300,000 at a time, and that it would print campaign messages on its prepaid phone cards and develop a USSD menu of health messages for its subscribers.

Mr. Ali Jalal, Area Operations Director-Fine Hygienic Paper Company/Nuqul Group, expressed that the strength of society is built on the strength of its health. Mr. Jalal also stressed that Fine takes interest in social corporate responsibility and is keen to participate in this campaign and that it is one of the most important collaborations it has at the current time. He briefed the audience on the Mother & Baby booklet to be implemented soon.  Mr. Jalal also pointed out Fine’s interest and hopes for future collaborations.

 

From the United States Agency for International Development, Mission Director Mr. Jay Knott addressed the attendees in his speech mentioning, “Nothing is more important than the health of the people and the health of the family….”, and continued to express that, “Parents with fewer children can have more time and funds for their family”, in addition to reducing the population growth through such family planning campaigns.  Later Mr. Knott said to Dr. Farah, that this campaign has taken a nonconventional approach; it is safe to say that all parties are looking forward to the outcome.

 

Support also came from the Higher Population Council and was voiced by Dr. Raeda Al Qutob, Secretary General of the Higher Population council. Dr. Al Qutob stated that, “this national campaign is an important step…”, and continued that, “…support from these parties [participating sectors] is essential”.

 

The final speech was given by HE Prof. Dr. Salah Mawajdeh, Minster of Health.  He emphasized the importance of family planning for the mother and child and that free family planning methods were available at health centers throughout the Kingdom. HE Dr. Mawajdeh also expressed his thanks to all the participants.
